Terrible experience

We have been USAA customers for over 30 years and until the last five years have been moderately satisfied with their banking and insurance services. I have to say, however, during our recent purchase of a home in Northern Virginia, they were totally incompetent in crediting our bank account with incoming mail transfers of funds. We were schedule for closing on the purchase of the home and had $30K being sent via the US Mail from overseas. It was sent Express Mail in plenty of time, but it sat in the USAA Mailroom with no one getting it to the right office for depositing. It caused us no untold amount of anxiety, not to mention daily phone calls to USAA over a four day period&and they still did not get it right. We managed to get the remaining $30K for the closing through another means from USAA&a brillant woman suggested getting an advance from my USAA Mastercard, which she accomplished in a matter of an hour. We have also had many goofed up WebBillPay accounts which were not paid on time, in spite of being set up properly. Unfortunately, I think that USAA has gotten so big that they don't really care if you have a problem. It is now rare to find someone on the other end of the phone that knows what they are doing. Safe to say, once we return to the States next year, we will be shopping around for another bank.
