CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME SORT ME PROBLEM OUT!

On the 12th July i took out car rental from [URL Removed] paid via the internet, my pick up time was 19:00, however i had to cancel around 15:30 I did so, on the 12th i went on site to Avis and advised them that i want to cancel, the lady who assisted me (i can't remember her name) advise she will cancel will all parties.
i than took Avis details and sent about 4 refund documents to them during that week alone to refund me. When i finally called Avis they advised i should call [URL Removed] which i did and lodge a complaint on the website which was on the 15 or 16 of July, i received an email which states i had to wait until the rental period was over which is the 20th of July before customer care can help me. So i waitied, i than sent an email on the 21st of July, i received a response from a Bernard, who advised that as per policy no refund can be done.
im furious at the fact that it was not my fault, the lady at Avis did not advise me added, I've been in contact trying to sorted this out with no joy from both parties. AND I KEEP SAYING IT IS NOT MY FAULT. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!
All i want is refund, im really tired of running around for funds that are mine.
