My friends bikes disolving! Malvernworcester uk

Just after xmas 08 my friend bought a "mountain bike" from halfords, by the end of jan09 it was unridable. IN the uk products by law have to have a 12 month gaurentee. My friend uses his bike to go to work, about a mile each way, so in less than 60 miles and less than 2 months his bike is worthless. He went back to them and asked for a refund, he was told he shouldn't have ridden it off road! $*^^% ridiculous! So he now has to walk to work, and has had his hobby taken away!
