Reasons why I wouldn’t recommend this tour

1. The bikes are not suitable for the terrain – there are a number of long days covering in excess of 200 miles in a day at altitude. The bikes are off road bikes, two of which are only 250cc and I had one of them. It struggled with the altitude and thus I was covering these large distances at speeds of 45-50 miles an hour with the throttle jammed against the stop. Many of the roads are straight and open which makes these sorts of speeds a pain in the ass (literally). You need something bigger and more comfortable for this sort of journey.

2. Watch out for your deposit. You have to include a deposit with the initial payment so you are relying on the company sending it back once you get back. Two issues here:

a. It was several months before I got mine back and only then because I chased it more than once. I think the guy is hoping you’ll just forget you paid it.

b. The bikes are getting on a bit and have had a hard life so it’s a bit much when you bump the things and then get charged for damage you didn’t even realise you’d caused. Especially when nothing is said about any damage whilst you are still in the country but then when you get home your deposit has a deduction. No reply to an email querying this was forthcoming.

The guy running the company and accompanying you as the only English speaking guide can be moody - he loses his temper with the guests and then refuses to speak to them. Hardly a professional attitude and very unnerving when you are relying on the man to provide support in a foreign country. And that support is part of the reason why you are paying to go with a company in the first place.
