British Airways UK
Logic defying seat allocation by BA

Traveling & Tourism

I made a reservation for my family to join me on a trip from Dubai on to Asia. In order for them to reach me, they have to travel from London to Dubai. I made the reservation at a cost of GBP2392 for 2 adults and 2 children and when I went to select their seats I had to pay GBP32 per seat selection on the outbound and GBP60 per seat on the inbound, so essentially an additional GBP368 for the privilege of sitting next to one another.

We decided that we would not pay the additional monies as times are tight. We also thought that we would leave it in the capable and logical hands of BA to see 4 passengers with the same surname on one booking travelling together 3 of which are aged 3, 11 and 13 respectively.

What followed is breathtakingly logic defying. We received seat assignments that placed my wife on the extreme left side of the aircraft and my 3, 11 and 13 year old on the oposite end and a few rows forward. I t wrote to BA customers services who curtly indicated they have no control over the seats they allocate and will therefore not be seating my 3 year old next to his mother.

I welcome some sense and logic British Airways. Why the penalty at the expense of a safe family?
