3G Broadband Contract
Charges for notifying contract cessation too early

Telecommunications

Having taken out a 12 month contract for a mobile 3G broadband connection, I decided to cancel the contract at the end of the term (mid August), as per the terms and conditions - I notified 3G of this "at lwast 30 days" before the end of the term (3rd week of june). I was contacted by thye 3G "Customer Service Call Centre" and told that this was too early as theri computer system could not handle it! But they could accept it if a charge of £8.42 was made for early closure of the contract - even though all 12 monthly payments would be made!

HAving pointed out that we were likely to be charged for contacting them in good time, the only continuous response was basically we should contact thenmt nearer the time.

Pedantic - Ridiculous - & the loss of 1 customer and anyone else I will speak to
