Manager Concerning Behaviour

Approximately 5-6 months ago, and this has been going on for some months, my GP let me know that Cancer Research UK Sunningdale were looking for volunteers and she would fully support my application to them as this will be a good opportunity for me to do something rather being stuck at home very isolated. I have ASD and have been ‘housebound’ for many years and not worked, volunteered, studied, socialized, etc. for over 5 years (a few years prior to Covid).
My GP advised me to go into Cancer Research UK Sunningdale to get a feel for the place, to talk to staff, find out what is like working there, how to apply, etc. and that they were running a scheme with Cancer Research UK Sunningdale to help my GP’s isolated patients to get out and about in the community. My GP thought this would be an excellent opportunity as it was being fully supported by my GP and Cancer Research UK Sunningdale. I think this is the first time I have been in this shop.
There were a number of issues that were reported to Cancer Research UK Sunningdale and Cancer Research UK. My GP could not understand why any of these happened and thought it was best to liaise with Cancer Research UK Sunningdale and Cancer Research UK. To this day there has never been any resolution and my GP is at a complete loss as to why I have been treated how I have been and even though she had checked what she had sent to Cancer Research UK there were no red flags being raised from what my GP had sent to Cancer Research UK.
My GP advised me to not to pursue volunteering at the Cancer Research UK Sunningdale and my GP advised me not to return (to shop, to hand in donations, etc.) after the last incident but advised me to keep contacting Cancer Research UK to get to the bottom of why Cancer Research UK behaved so negatively and unprofessionally towards me. My GP does not have the time to pursue further and I think is unsure on how to help me further as Cancer Research UK have never come back to any of my GP’s concerns on why Cancer Research UK Sunningdale did what they did. My GP told me that Cancer Research UK Sunningdale have never ever told my GP that I would be unsuitable at all.
The issues have been from managers, volunteers, customers, etc.
• A manager repeatedly told me I was tramp who had travelled from London, smelt awful and was wearing holey clothes that showed off my privates. (I pointed out to the manager I live 15 minutes’ walk away and my GP had recommended volunteering here. My GP did not understand what she meant and had no idea why this had been said to me.) This resulted in the customers and shop volunteers laughing at me. (I was crying so left quickly; no follow up from anyone at Cancer Research UK; my GP was at a loss.)
• Another time a different manger said to me I have never meet you before and I do not know who you are. We are looking for volunteers but before you start I do not want your details and will refuse them but those of all your doctors, including GP, hospital, specialist, blood tests, etc., and all your medical appointment details and this is where we will get your contact details from. We do not take anyone who has ASD as they are the worst – all are thieves and you are the worst with a high criminal history. (I do no understand where she got this information from. I did query why did the manager not want my details but that of my GP, etc. The manager just kept repeating that she did not want my details but will obtain all from medical professionals. My GP did not understand especially as I do not have a criminal history. My GP at a loss again.)
• Another time a different manager was with there are no opportunities at the weekend even if you were told this by the top manager and this top manager was sending you on a wild goose chase. There is an opportunity on a Tuesday evening at 18:30 (1.5 hours after the shop closed) to open, clean, and close the shop (it is unclear whether they would be stock taking to do as well) but you would not be introduced to how the shop and the cleaning work but there may have been telephone support though head office (but they were closed in the evenings according to the manager). (Through my GP I learnt I would have become a key holder and would not have been let in and out. My GP was worried that there was not going to be any support and Cancer Research UK Sunningdale did not want the key returning and wanted me take it home with me so I became a key holder on call, which was alarming as I did not know this and learnt this through my GP and very concerning that even before I had started I had become a key holder – my GP could not find out why.)
• There are a few more situations including customers telling me I am not allowed in the shop even to buy/donate/browse as this is what the manager told them to tell me and rather than the manager asking me to leave they as the customer have been told by the manager to come up to me and to say without mentioning the manager that they are a customer and browser of Sunningdale and you are not allowed in here as you are an illegal immigrant and/or they are a buyer and donator at Sunningdale Cancer Research UK and you are not allowed in here you sex worker.
• I went into to find out more about volunteering (as support from my GP who advised me to try again and Cancer Research UK Sunningdale knew I was coming). This was briefly before I had to get to the GP’s to get some emergency scan results that were supposed be back within 24 hours and it was now 5 days. The manager was very rude to me even though I had pre-warned the manager I could not stay long as I had to get to the GP’s, explained why, thanked her for her time and I would come back tomorrow. The manager and volunteer scorned, laughed and told me that I was lying.
• I did go back the next day only to be told by the manager I had given them false medical information and details. (I had not given them anything. My GP was aware that I had not done so as my GP was the only one who had provided Cancer Research UK with my medical history and contacts and Cancer Research UK had never come back and queried anything. This is the last time I went to Cancer Research UK Sunningdale as my GP advised me not to return at all).
