Royal mail stamps
Sold the wrong stamps

Shops & Trade

I went to my local Londis shop as I often try to promote local businesses by using their services. I had gone to buy 40 stamps for christmas cards which I wanted to send out within the city and I needed to send 2 air mail stamps for cards being sent abroad.

The woman weighed and gave me the correct stamps for the cards being sent abroad. I knew stamps prices were being raised but I was shocked I was charged £17.50 for 40 second class stamps.

I used a counter nearby to put 5 of the stamps on the cards which were being sent locally and noticed they were actually 1st class stamps. I pointed this out to the same who who had served me seconds earlier and she insisted I asked for 1st class stamps. (There had been a customer before and after me who bought 1st class stamps -this may have been why she was confused)

I asked the woman to redeem my stamps for second and I was told she could not do that.

I left the shop knowing that the customer care in the shop has always been poor over the last 8 years but now I'm determined not to use this shop again. I had no proof that I was sold the wrong stamps but that I was not allowed to redeem them for cheaper stamps as I was sending my cards within the city I live!

I believe that the woman knew she was wrong and had no intention of rectifying her mistake
