VI Marketing -not as it seems

I got involved with this company just a couple of days ago. After loading my CV onto a job website I was called within a matter of hours about a role at VI and was called in for an interview the next day. This seemed quick to me but I went along with it, thinking more of the monetary opportunities as many people are given the current climate.

Finding the "office" took a while as it is joined with a florist, and the office itself is just a converted flat, with doorbells and other features still in tact. This made me suspicious but I did not want to judge a book by its cover. The sign for the company was a lamenated A4 sheet of paper stuck on the front door, very professional.

I was handed a form to fill in when I arrived which I took to be a disclaimer, asking me to give my address, employment details and signature. It is something I have done before so foolishly signed the document, which could come back to haunt me in the future.

The interview lasted barely five minutes with the guy explaining to me that this big ambitious company already had clients like Argos on the books. Would Argos use a company that work from a flat, I thought?

The interview ended and I was told I would be called within the hour if they wanted to see me for what they called a training day with part of their management staff and a second interview. This all seemed to be going extrememly quickly and too good to be true.

I was called an hour later to be asked back tomorrow, which I accepted. The night before I had tried to research the company over the internet to no avail, and just assumed that I was not looking properly. But with my new suspicions I arrived home from the interview and began looking again.

Both the Royal Mail and Yell failed to find VI when I used their search engines which only heightened my suspicions. Finally I found a previous report from this site which confirmed my fears.

I am now in the process of finding how best to handle the situation and can only hope that they do not have enough information to take me to the cleaners!

My advice would be always be wary when things move quick, and research as best you can.
