Unresponsive to messages, lying to customers

I am utterly astounded as to how poor this company actually is. Paul (the owner) PROMISED me and my wife we would be getting a bespoke gate fitted within an 8 week time period - even told us he needs a deposit before he gets the work started, so we paid a deposit of over £300.00 to get booked in.

12 weeks later, no sign of the gate whatsoever - and absolutely no contact. So we ring him... phone is engaged constantly. So I left him a message asking him what the hell is going on. He rings back almost immediately - saying hes been sick, then on holiday (oh, so you're well enough to take a holiday, but not ring clients who you have taken money off ey?) and blamed his son (or someone) saying they havent done things in his absence. He then vowed to get back to me the week after when he returns from holiday.

So ANOTHER two weeks tick over, and still NOTHING. So I ring again, and again - no answer. So I message him again, telling him its completely unacceptable (now 14 weeks against an 8 week timescale) and we need an answer ASAP or money back. Well, I ring once more after than and he picks up "I was just about to ring you" - NO YOU WEREN'T!!! Still a boat load of excuses, the next one based on them being on a farm or something whatever - just utter tripe. He promised it would be done Thursday of next week (22/09 to be precise).

Thursday passes, and NOTHING again. No work, no phone call... NOTHING. I have served him notice to get a refund by the weekend today, or I will be involving the Police as this is robbery and fraud.

AVOID this company at all costs.
