Ripoff internet fraud online scam

After recieving and following emailed directions for payment on what seemed to be a legitament transaction with a reputable world wide shipping agency. I received no reply to repeted inquiries, online and emails until I finally received email directing me to send a second payment along with drivers license and passport numbers because somebody tried to intercept the original payment.
They are supposedly a reputable worlwide shipping agency with good contacts, the websist certainly looks good, but the phones unanswered and emails ignored until you become so frustrated it shows no matter how polite you try to be, when they finally reply just to ask for the more money and enough information to steal your identity and completely ruin your life, what are you supposed to think?
