We were approached via email by Paul Anthony, who had found our Company on an investment website. He offered to fund our production company for US$6.5 mil. No upfront fees would be charged. The hint to this person's "scamminess" was the odd syntax, misspellings, and location of the individual. Furthermore, the emails were identical to another scammer, Mclain Peter, who contacted us about 7 months ago. There is always a fair amount of back and forth with emails, wherein we submitted business plans, etc. Then comes the Term Sheet, which includes the caveat: we are required to pay for a lawyer to finalize the paperwork. Of course, the lawyer's name is a fiction... or if real, does not know the scam artist. We Googled Paul Anthony's address, btw, and found this incredible dump in the outback of Kent. It appears that there is a smallish circle of "friends" from Africa who are helping one another by devising or selling a "kit" that has all the cut and paste needed for initial contact, and then this official looking Term Sheet document. Another clue: the phone numbers provided do not work. Paul or Pual (sic) claims to have tried to call us a number of times, but that we never picked up. Lies. All lies and more lies.
