Refused refund when ad not shown

I posted a paid-for online ad in the Gumtree business services directory and was sent a message to say that they would not post my message as I was outwith their "catchment" area - but refused to refund my fee! They say that as I broke their posting rules I am not entitled to a refund even though my ad was never shown. Please boycott this online community/ad provider.
