Overcharged/Refused to refund Credit card Charges

I have an ongoing complaint that is similar to that of d.r martin (posted 07-12 -also from New Zealand)... My (NZ) ASB bank Credit card (charge back officer) is attempting to resolve.

In August I contacted a web site who had a system of 'live' touch type reservation for a mini bus for a group of 8 persons travelling from London -to Cornwalll/Devon- then on to Portsmouth as drop off point.

Costs were mentioned and the operator kindly related this to NZ dollars which was acceptable to me (later denied by firms management)... I did not received confirmation of the transaction/pick up point/drop off point etc and sent an email which was replied to with then finding out that they had not only taken a deposit from my credit card but an amount of (Pounds sterling) 1144.99 for a 4 day hirer. This was not what was discussed on reservation and then tried to resolve or cancel... No reply from them for 5 days. Then told that the amount was correct and no refunds were given for cancellation. I was left in no dount i was dealing with a fierce company and contacted my bank who are acting for me now..I do not know what they can do though.. I contacted them given another name a week or so later and the same dates and pick up-destinations were given. The costing this time was (Pounds Sterling) 836 for an identical vehicle... My wife rang this firm this am because she considered that it would be easily resolved but now realises this firm is like no other she has come across before. Not only were they agressive in manner, refused to sort the matter out and change the dearer priced rental for the 2nd and cheaper option, but also said that the original hirer has been cancelled which at the moment will put us out of pocket by NZ $2599. This is still ongoing but I agree with dr.martin that they should be stopped... SO WHAT CAN BE DONE.
