BEWARE SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS! - Thompson Local Online contacted me last year.

Their silver tongued sales rep sold me an advert costing £500, guaranteeing me SALES SALES SALES!! I asked if I didn't get these SALES, after 1 month could I cancel the agreement (I had been told the call was recorded), He told me yes, this is no problem.

So I agreed to the advert based on our verbal cancellation agreement. In my 'new to business' naivety I believed I had done everything correctly and waited for my documents in the post. After 2 weeks I received the documents which had no mention of the cancellation agreement!!

I contacted Thompson Local who advised there is no such thing as a cancellation agreement once I had said 'yes' the contract was binding - I should have cancelled within 10 days, but I didn't receive the paperwork for 14 days!!!

So the call was recorded, I asked to hear the call recording - they advised they had listened to it but the only part of the call that they record is the part which makes the contract legally binding missing out the SCAM part!!!

So only the parts of the call THEY record are legally binding - they can say whatever they want and as long as they don't record it, they are covered.

An utterly disgusting way to trade, I am now facing a court hearing which I will probably lose as they have covered their backs with the call recording, Rich advertising companies like these prey on individuals hopes and aspirations for their new business ventures - BEWARE!!!

I didn't get any SALES or even a lead, thompson local is not effective for all business types, do your research and never agree to anything over the phone - IT IS LEGALLY BINDING FOR BUSINESS TO BUSINESS!!
